Open up your frozen petals
flower on the eastern mountain
let the morning sun out
sky alight and golden
When it's lost into the west
when it’s gone away
close up all your frozen petals
but open them next day

Winterboy, Wintergirl
03:25
|
|||
He was a winterboy
she was a wintergirl
When they found each other
on the snowy night they sang:
“hold my love until you’re old
and I will find you again”
He was a winterboy
she was a wintergirl
They held their song
but then she fell
and never rose again
on that same stroke
something was born
inside the frosty pines
she waited in there, shimmering
and just beyond his reach
his singing billowed through the years
and rested at her feet
He was a winterboy
he was a winterboy
He died
as an old man, dreaming of snow
asleep
by the fireside
after
he’d gone he followed her song
she never left his side
They skipped
over roots, over frozen ponds
beneath
the cut glass sky
after
he’d gone she followed his song
he never left her side
“Hold my love
until you’re old
and I will find you
again”

Endlessly

I
Tower, tower
Standing tall
My body trapped
atop it all
Centuries
must have passed
I want to see a face
outside my looking glass
Who knows but why
this flagstone stands
while underneath
a Kingdom grand
so wild it breathes
and shivers and seethes
so wild it breathes
and its heat is lost up here
Early morning
through my window
there crashed a tiny bird
her wings all broken
I took the time to tend to her
she grew into a friend
and then one day when she was well
she flew away and sang to me:
“I promise on the wind and stars
the rain the sun and moon
that I will get you down from here
and I will do it soon”
Who knows but why
this flagstone stands
while underneath
a Kingdom grand
so wild it breathes
and shivers and seethes
so wild it breathes
and its heat is lost up here
II
And then the rains came
soaking everything
and then the rains came
soaking everything
And then the floods rose
to my window frame
and then the floods rose
to my window frame
Climbing on the roof
I saw a ship draw near
climbing on the roof
I saw a ship draw near
On the deck there stood a figure
she wore a feathered dress
on the deck there stood a figure
and as the ship got close she sang ...
III
“Oh why don’t you come with me?
we’ll sail together endlessly
and though you do not know my ways
I love you all the same”
"I love you all the same
I love you all the same"

The Forgotten King
04:02
|
|||
Between the fen and fell
in the ivy green woods
the King of Birds minds his realm
a little wren with a crown on his head
keeps the trees safe from harm
But the crow and the heron mock the wren
and the buzzard says he’s too small
until a monster slithers into the ferns
and the trees begin to fall
long live the King wherever you are
long live the King wherever you are
From fen and fell
the birds fly away
from where the foul monster dwells
but the King with just a sword and his wings
flies right into the beast’s den
And he plunges into the creature’s throat
his sword held tight in his claws
the vile thing starts to gasp and choke
’till the wren is hurled from its jaws
long live the King wherever you are
long live the King wherever you are
The beast is slain and falls
and the birds all return to
the wren’s leafy halls
under the stars the King of Birds tends his scars
and his crown is clear to them all
and the crow and the heron hail the wren
the buzzard tends to his wings
the birds all gather in the ferns
together they all sing
long live the King wherever you are
long live the King wherever you are

'Till All the Stars Fell
04:17
|
|||
A teardrop fell
and the tundra took it
the see-through lady
rose then left it
From where she cried
ice formed a child
and a palace around her
all crystalline
The frozen girl
enjoyed her life
and she stayed happy
for a little while
Then teardrops fell
the palace took them
her sobs rang out
as the cold air took them
And miles away
a wolf heard her
the strangest feeling
in his fur
The frozen lady
covered in sorrow
She didn’t notice
who entered her home
He pressed his nose
against her hand
and she felt warmth
for the first time
She melted away
before his eyes
then stood there
flesh and bones
alive
And no more tears on the tundra fell
And no more tears in the palace fell
They lived as one 'till all the stars fell
They lived as one 'till all the stars fell
